Resumen:
We sorted through the book problems again, for the very last time. We will not spend any more class time on it! So next week, every one will be enrolled on QUIA for the free trial period. After the trial period ends, you can choose to do the homework any way you want-- old school on paper or online-- and I will work with you, it is all good.
If today was your first class, and I ran out of syllabi to give you, remember you can download the syllabus (along with QUIA registration instructions) from the "Course Content" tab on Blackboard.
We looked at verb conjugations of LLAMARSE and SER, and reviewed the homework. We did some spelling dictations to work on the pronunciation of letters in Spanish. We reviewed Spanish-speaking countries and capitals using Quizlet and interactive online sites. Learning the names of capitals and countries has a dual value: 1) we learn some key geography of the Spanish-speaking world if we didn't already know it, and 2) we have an opportunity to notice how those familiar names are pronounced in Spanish, and noticing the difference reinforces our understanding of how vowels and consonants are pronounced in Spanish.
La tarea:
1) Study the countries and capitals. I will give a quiz (multiple choice) based on the Quizlet set (quizlet.com/177077572/paises-de-habla-espanola-y-sus-capitales-flash-cards/). Also, below the homework assignment I provide links to the interactive games to practice this.
2) Study the numbers from 0 to 100 with quizlet.com/177102119/los-numeros-0-a-100-flash-cards/.
3) Study nationalities with quizlet.com/177085692/las-nacionalidades-y-adjetivos-regionales-flash-cards/
4) SAM (Student Activity Manual -- online, sign up!) Activity 8 "Paises de habla espanola y sus capitales", 13, 14 (WPB-8, WPB-13, WPB-14)
5) Lab Manual (Listening -- again online!) activities 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8,10,(LMP-2 through LMP-10). Exercises 2 and 3 deal with accents and stress. Read the rules at the intro to Exercise 2 to work it out. We'll go over it in class next week. The rules for this are also in the photocopied stapled handout I gave you in class, on page 12.
