Resumen de la clase:
Describimos dibujos que tienen muchas actividades.  Hicimos un ejercicio para distinguir entre el uso de SABER y CONOCER.  En la clase de la mañana empezemos a ver cómo dar invitaciones ("¿Te gustaría... comer en un restaurante?, ver una película?", etc.)

La tarea:

1) SAM página 221, Actividad 11 "Un poco de todo":  Hand this in on Tuesday for a grade.
2) SAM página 224 a 225, Actividad 17 & 18 "Saber & conocer"
3) SAM página 226 Actividad 22 "Un poco de todo"
4) Study Quizlet set "los meses"  quizlet.com/_2xg5rb; "las estaciones del año"  quizlet.com/_2xg5on; "el tiempo"  quizlet.com/_2xg5hc.  Expect a quiz on the homework on these Quizlet sets as well as on SAM exercises due for Thursday the 29th.

Resumen de la clase:
¡Me dio mucho gusto ver a ustedes de regreso en la clase!  Repasamos las partes del cuerpo, los verbos reflexivos, y el presente progresivo.

La tarea para el jueves:
1) SAM página 219 Actividades 4 "Asociaciones" y 5 "Las rutinas".
2) SAM página 220 Activdad 8 "Una familia extraña"
3) SAM página 221 Actividad 10 "El día de Noemí"

You can expect a quiz based on these exercises.

4) Please read p. 85 in preparation for class on Thursday.

LR #5 will be due on Friday Dec. 7.

Resumen de la clase
Escuchamos las tres versiones de la Bamba, y platicamos de la historia de la canción y las diferencias entre las versiones.  Describimos cada versión y dijimos (=we said) cuál versión nos gustó más y por qué.  Revisamos los adjetivos de estados de ánimo y emociones y hicimos (=we did) las dos actividades en la página 73. 

La tarea
1) LR #4 due this weekend.  The Blackboard forum will close on Monday night.
2) Read p. 74 and do the activity on that page on SER or ESTAR.
3) SAM p. 168, Activity 13.  This will be handed in for a grade.
4) SAM p. 168, Activity 14; p. 169, Actividades 16 y 17; p. 170, actividad 19.  Expect a quiz drawn from any of these exercises.
5) In Convivencia, page 53: do the activities  "Repaso: me gusta..." and "Lugares y profesiones."


MUY IMPORTANTE: The 12:15 class meets as usual on Tuesday, but there is no class at 9:05 on Tuesday the 13th.  To repeat, only the 9:05 class is cancelled.

Resumen de la clase
Revisamos la lectura sobre la Ciudad de Mexico.  Hicimos (=we did) una actividad oral "¿Cómo eres?" Revisamos preguntas acerca de las actividades en SAM, y tomamos un quiz.

La tarea
1) LR #4 due this coming Friday
2) Do the activity called "Evolución de La Bamba" pp. 47 and 48 in Convivencia.  Find the links for the three versions of the song on the webpage for Convivencia, and do the exercise describing the songs.
3) Read the section "Language Variation and Change" on page 48.
4) Study the vocabulary list on Quizlet "ESTAR + adjetivo" and do the exercise on page 73 "Cómo estás?"

Nota:  Surprisingly, today there was a piece on NPR about La Bamba -- what timing!

Resumen de la clase
We played TicTacToe (p. 59 in Convivencia) to practice conjugation regular verbs.  We reviewed the exercise "Conversación"  with verbs that are irregular in the YO form (p. 82-83).  We also went over the answers for the exercise on p. 62.  The 12:15 class took the quiz the 9:05 class took on Tuesday.  

In the 9:05 class we talked about gypsy flamenco music and we also talked about the peaceful control of Spain by North African Arabs. Arabs controlled Spain for 800 years, a time marked by religious tolerance of Christians and Jews in a land ruled by Muslims.  We discussed the cultural flowering in architecture, art and literature during that time.  Spanish culture owes much to the extraordinarily beautiful contributions of Arabic culture.

In the 12:15 class we talked about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, about her brilliance, her poetry, and the conditions of her life.

La tarea para el martes
1) On pages 65 to 67 is a reading activity about Mexico City.  Read the descriptions on page 67 and match them with the correct photo.
2) Study adjectives to describe people on Quizlet: https://quizlet.com/_3x618w
3) SAM: Do exercises 8 and 9 on page 165, exercise 12 on page 167.
4) Be prepared for a quiz that will have questions just like these SAM exercises.

OTHER IMPORTANT REMINDERS:  
1) Learning Report #4 is due Nov. 9th.
2) Plan when you are going to vote on Tuesday.  Don't forget!!!!
