Resumen de la clase
Hoy hicimos una actividad para identificar lugares en la ciudad (p. 64).  Luego, practicamos la conjugación de verbos regulares.

La tarea
1) The 12:15 class should finish the activities on pages 57 - 59.
2) Relax and watch this beautiful video (13 minutes) about el guitarrista Juan Ramirez: Video (cortometraje) Soleá:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X62dO2yeozo.    Answer the questions on page 62 of Convivencia.
3) Read the explanation of "Verbos irregulares en la forma 'yo' " on page 82 and do the exercise called "Conversación" on pages 82 - 83 (IMPORTANT, do not neglect to do this).

Resumen de la clase:
Revisamos "gustar" con una encuesta en clase, cada quien circulando.  Luego, revisamos parte de la tarea, y practicamos con un ejercicio más sobre los verbos regulares.

La tarea para el martes:
1) LR #3 -- as we discussed in both classes this week, the report should be posted tonight so that you have the weekend to respond to each other's reports.
2) In Convivencia, do the verb conjugation exercises on pages 55, 57 and 58-59.
3) SAM p. 164, Actividad 7. Do the second half of this exercise on verb conjugations.  Check your answers, because the quiz on Tuesday will be just like this exercise.
4) SAM p. 163 Actividad 5.

Resumen de la clase:

Hoy revisamos los usos del infinitivo que hemos estudiado o usado para la comunicación: 
1) Tengo que + inf.
2) Voy a + inf.
3) Me gusta + inf.
4) Quiero/Puedo + infinitivo

Luego, vimos (we looked at) las conjugaciones de los verbos regulares -AR, -ER y -IR y observamos patrones (patterns) en su formación.  Practicamos la conjugación de los verbos con "La papa caliente".

La tarea:
Seize the day -- take advantage of this moment before it passes.  Right now is the moment to learn correctly and be able to use a grammar form -- the conjugation of regular verbs -- that will make absolutely everything you study afterwards easier if you have these clear in your head and you can conjugate them easily.  If you can do this correctly NOW, you won't get so confused with irregular verbs, stem-changing verbs, reflexive verbs, and all the other tenses -- preterite, past perfect, imperfect, future and subjunctive, not to mention the conditional -- that will come your way if you continue on the wonderful journey of learning Spanish.

1) Practice conjugating the verbs, in your head, and saying out loud the conjugations. Use the lists and the conjugation charts on pages 54, 56, and 58 of Convivencia.  If you cannot remember the meaning of the verb, look it up.
2) Do exercises "A" (very easy) on each page -- 54, 56, and 58.
3) Do the take home quiz that I gave you, due on Thursday. I won't accept it late.
4) SAM p. 164 Activity 7, only numbers 1-10. Expect a quiz on this in class.

No hubo clase.  Yo estuve enferma el jueves, pero ya estoy bien.  Vamos a tener clase el martes 23, sin falta.  La tarea es la misma tarea para el 18 de octubre.  Vamos a tener una prueba (quiz), basada en la tarea del SAM.

Resumen de la clase:
Hoy en la clase de las 9:05 hablamos del verbo gustar y como usarlo.  En la clase de las 12:15, hablamos de "tus/mis/sus posesiones".  Luego, revisamos las respuestas a la actividad que trata la cancion de Marc Anthony.  Para terminar, hablamos de nuestros planes para el futuro/esta semana ("voy a estudiar, voy a ir al cine, etc.")

Reminder / Recordatorio:  There IS class on Thursday. Si, hay clase el jueves.

La tarea:
1) Estudiar el Quizlet set "Los lugares."  (Make sure you know how the words sound.)
2) Do the activity using "gustar" on page 44.
3) SAM Actividad 12 p. 116; Actividad 5 p. 113.

Online quizzes due by Tuesday Oct. 9 at 9am

Hola a todos,
I have emailed you the links for 2 quizzes. They must be done by Tuesday Oct. 9 at 9am. If you did not get an email, go to Blackboard.  The links are in Announcements when you open up the course site. (But if you have problems with the technology, don't worry, I will give you a written quiz on Tuesday as a last resort.)  Each has 10 multiple choice questions and you have a maximum of 30 seconds (which is plenty) for each question.  The first quiz is on objeto personales y de la casa, and the other is on verbos.

You will need to download the Kahoot app and do each quiz on the app.  The app is free and doesn't ask for an email or personal info.  I just need you to use your real name when you take each quiz (take the "challenge") so I can give you credit.

Important notice:  
We do not have class on Thursday the 4th.  Our next class will be Tuesday, October 9th.  (Also, Reading Day is Oct. 16th, not the 11th).

The LR #2 deadline is moved to Friday, Oct. 11.


Resumen
In class, we talked about what we liked to do or not do (Me gusta... no me gusta...).  We reviewed the homework. In the 9:05 class, we talked about things on our desks that were ours and things that belonged to others (Es mi cuaderno, son tus llaves, es mi bolígrafo...).  In the 12:15 class, we looked at the the grammar structure when using "gustar."

La tarea
1) Do the activity on page 52 with the Marc Anthony song, "Vivir mi vida." Listen to it on Youtube, and notice the new grammar structure "voy a..." Then do the matching exercise to look at the meaning of the phrases that are most repeated in the song.  Then read the grammar explanation on page 51.  We will work on this grammar and do exercises in class on Tuesday.

2) SAM p. 111 Actividades 1 & 2, p. 112 Actividades 3 & 4.

3) Quiz due by class on Tuesday.  This will be on Kahoot!  I will send you a link via email at the latest Sunday night -- please be on the lookout. It is on "objetos en tu casa" y "verbos".  You will have 30 seconds to answer question, so you won't be rushed.
